The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) is the body managing rugby union in the island of Ireland. In late 2022, Substance delivered a Social Return on Investment (SROI) study relating to participation in domestic, grassroots Rugby Union across Ireland and the four provinces of Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connacht.

The core findings were presented in an interactive, online format and, as with all Substance social impact projects, a supplementary report was prepared to outline the underpinning methods, methodological assumptions and calculation methods as well as the specific data sources employed.
