Benchmarking. It’s a word most people have heard of, but not everyone is clear what exactly it means or how it can benefit their organisation. And while most companies know they should be doing it, not all are. In short, benchmarking is a way to compare performance with others in the sector, to learn from what your peers are doing, to get better insight into what works and, ultimately, to make the right business decisions.
If you’re already using the Views reporting platform to capture data and access insight, the recent partnership with us at the DataHub is going to make sure that data is really earning its keep.
The DataHub is a collaborative project, launched in 2013 as a way for all sport, leisure and physical activity providers to securely bring together data, align it with consistent sector standards, then access and share intelligence and best practice. The intelligence generated is on an unprecedented level within this sector. DataHub Club members and their partners (that’s you!) now have direct access to accurate reporting information, benchmarks and actionable operational solutions, based on a shared – and growing – repository of more than seven million individuals visiting 2000 venues. The DataHub currently tracks data from more than 470 million visits and hopes to exceed the half a million mark by the end of the year.
The DataHub is guided by a Steering Group made up of representative from sector-leading organisations and our Partners include NGBs, CSPs, ukactive, CIMSPA, CLOA and CSPN.
4global and Substance are excited to present a new benchmarking platform called the Sport for Development League Table. Housed within the DataHub, it is designed to enable local and national delivery partners that are DataHub Club members to prove the difference their work is making and the impact they’re having on participants’ lives, specifically focusing on areas with a high risk of inactivity and deprivation.
Substance’s integration with us is also supported by the County Sport Partnership (CSP) Intelligence Coordinator Programme. Using Views via the DataHub allows local and national delivery partners, CSPs and funding partners to monitor the performance of initiatives against objectives set, evidence the social and economic impact generated through those programmes and make data-driven decision for future investment.
Our partnership gives you access to the DataHub for free and there’s no extra data entry required. It’s a powerful partnership that we hope will empower more sport for development organisations across the country to capture data from programmes run in schools, parks, outside spaces and other non-traditional sports venues. Knowing what works best, where and when, can impact physical activity participation and subsequent economic and social returns. Consistently monitoring outcomes is the only way to create a continuous cycle of improvement, deliver more successful programmes in future and so create a healthier and more active nation.
