Third Workshop visit – “Membership and Volunteers”

Substance continued their on-going involvement with Supporters Direct Europe by attending and evaluating the 3rd workshop of the Erasmus+ sport project ‘Clubs and Supporters for Better Governance in Football’. The workshop explored member and volunteer engagement in supporter owned and run football clubs, and was attended by delegates from across Europe, and indeed further afield, representing member owned football clubs, and supporters’ associations.

Presentations covered many issues: working with member and volunteers in an inclusive way; managing membership; involving members in the democratic processes in a club; the challenge of meeting members’ expectations, and developing, training and managing volunteers. Substance delivered a session covering evaluation issues relating to member and volunteer engagement, which collected ‘live’ data from the delegates around their evaluation capabilities, and their overall evaluation of the workshop of a whole. This data showed that the workshop was a highly successful event, and much appreciated by all delegates.

A final workshop will take place later in the year: venue and date to be confirmed.
